Message From The Mayor

Dear Friends and Neighbors

Welcome to the Broward County website and the District 7 web page. Through this site you have access to nearly 20,000 pages of information on the programs and services available in your neighborhood, along with the activities of Broward County government.

As a County Commissioner since 1992, my most important priority has been to make Broward County a great place to live, work or retire. I have spent nearly my entire life in this community, and considered Broward County home for me and my wife, Charlotte, and our three sons, Travis, Wade and John III. Because my roots run so deep and wide, I really care about the future of our neighborhoods and about the economic stability of our region. Managing the growth ahead of us is paramount to maintain the quality of life that we enjoy in South Florida.

For the past two decades, I have served in leadership positions at the city and county levels. I bring to government a unique background in business experience, coupled with dedicated public service. I have always championed efficient and effective government. As your Commissioner, my goal is to make government more accessible, accountable and understandable.

Broward County Commissioners have passed a proclamation in support of County and local programs that aim to end childhood obesity. The Broward County Nutrition and Fitness Task Force is a coalition of community groups working together to stop the epidemic of severely overweight children.
