With more than 75 years of history under its belt, the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) has earned a right to be proud. Over the years, the airport has made significant contributions culturally and economically to South Florida.  In 2011, over 23 million passengers traveled through FLL and the crowds continue to pack the airport's concourses and gates. It is the airport of choice for millions of residents from southern Palm Beach County to northern Miami-Dade County in South Florida.  FLL recently started a $791 million expansion of the South Runway.  The project will lengthen the South Runway from 5,276 feet to 8,000 feet giving the airport two parallel runways that can accommodate larger commercial flights.
